Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his anger after Daley Blind was booed by his own fans.

Blind was jeered by some sections of the Ajax support during his side’s 3-2 win at home to Feyenoord before the international break.

The defender was taken off in the 69th minute and Ten Hag feels that the treatment Blind received from Ajax supporters was unacceptable.

Dusan Tadic was booed this weekend but that was more understandable as it was supporters of his former club Groningen who were jeering him.

As reported by The Sun, Ten Hag said: ‘With Dusan it was Groningen supporters, but we can say the same about Ajax supporters.

‘This is unacceptable. Daley brought this club and Dutch football so much yet he still gets treated like this by his own fans.

‘Unacceptable. We can learn a lesson from other countries where players are treated with more respect.’

Blind’s team-mate Davy Klaassen also criticised the fans who booed their own player, saying that it has had a negative effect.

Klaassen said: ‘If you whistle an opponent’s player for not playing for your club, that’s one thing. Everyone plays bad sometimes or has bad periods. But if you, as a supporter, whistle at your own player and cheer when they are substituted, I don’t think that is possible.

‘I can feel it getting to him. I don’t want to speak for him, but he loves the club. Then it hits you. Most of the crowd doesn’t do it, but some do. In my view, those are not real supporters.’

Blind has made over 300 appearances across his two spells at Ajax and was named in the starting lineup against Groningen as his side won 3-1, with ten Hag taking him off in the 72nd minute.

A product of Ajax’s famous academy, Blind made his senior debut in 2008 and left for Manchester United in 2014. He eventually returned to Ajax in 2018.

Blind has won the Eredivisie title six times with Ajax and he has also won the KNVB Cup twice.

There have been several high-profile incidents of players being booed by their own supporters recently.

Harry Maguire’s name was booed by England supporters when it was read out at Wembley ahead of the game against Ivory Coast.

Last month Lionel Messi and Neymar were booed by Paris Saint-Germain fans during a 3-0 win against Bordeaux.
