Alvaro Morata reportedly vomited before the Spanish Super Cup penalty shootout after his head was accidentally stepped on by Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal.
The incident came after Morata was cynically scythed down by Real Madrid‘s Fede Valverde, which earned the Uruguayan a straight red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
Real and Atletico’s players then confronted one another following the foul while Morata laid on the ground injured.

Seconds later, Carvajal was shoved twice in the chest, while the second push saw the right back step backwards unknowingly onto Morata’s head.
The resulting blow left the Spanish striker ‘feeling dizzy’, according to MARCA, who also reported that the Chelsea loanee threw up before the shootout.
As a result, Atletico boss Diego Simeone decided to omit Morata from the shootout despite the Spaniard usually being the club’s first-choice spot-kick taker.

Morata’s absence proved to be costly in the final shootout.
Saul Niguez and Thomas Partey missed in the shootout while Kieran Trippier was the only Atletico player to score from the spot.
Real comfortably converted all four of their kicks to see Zinedine Zidane’s men crowned as the Spanish Super Cup champions.
